Élisabeth Lebon, docteure en histoire de l’art, a consacré sa thèse au catalogue raisonné de l’oeuvre sculpté de Charles Despiau. Elle a publié, en collaboration avec Pierre Brullé, Antoine Pevsner, catalogue raisonné de l’oeuvre sculpté (Galerie/Éditions Pierre Brullé, 2001). Elle s’est ensuite spécialisée dans l’histoire des fonderies de bronze d’art. Elle est l’autrice du Dictionnaire des fondeurs de bronze d’art, France, 1890-1950 (Marjon Éditions, 2003). Elle a publié Fonte au sable – fonte à cire perdue. Histoire d’une rivalité (Ophrys/INHA) et Le Fondeur et le Sculpteur (INHA, coll. « Essais », publication en ligne) avec l’Institut national d’histoire de l’art en 2012, et Charles Despiau, classique & moderne (Atlantica) en 2016. Elle a contribué à de nombreuses publications collectives et est membre du comité scientifique du CAST:ING Project.
